The town of Kuta, Bali is located on the west coast and is about 10 kilometers from Bali's capital, Denpasar. By car is the trip between 10 and 20 minutes which can easily with a cheap taxi from the airport directly driven comfortably by taxi.
Up in the 60 `s years there have been little to no tourism in Kuta. So when the backpackers and surfers found the gorgeous beaches as well as the great volcanic landscapes of tourism flourished. Within a few years grew in Bali Kuta up to be a ansehenden city and now offers everyone a comprehensive leisure offer. Countless shops, hotels, restaurants, discos and pubs can be found along the streets. Probably the most popular and most famous street, the Poppies one and two. The northern area of Legian Kuta flows into the city where there is also a very famous and popular city for tourists.
Leisure, beach and activities
Kuta has to offer the most beautiful beach in Bali. The Kuta Beach stretches over a gentle curve along the sea and offers fabulous sunsets and beach afternoons. Many sports activities such as surfing and body shelf are offered here. The surf is comfortable and yet adventurous. Balinese women on the beach offer several massages at reasonable prices. But Javanese traders try to sell counterfeit products such as Rolex.
Evening meeting at the beach many tourists and locals to admire the sunset with a glass of beer or wine. (The beach is next to the unmittlerbar Poppies I and II, which is within 1 -5 minutes away.
Historical Background
The town of Kuta in Bali was unfortunately already 2 times the scene of a terrorist attack by Islamic extremists.
On 12 October 2002 by the detonation of a car bomb destroyed 2 discos and many people completely lost in their lives. Since that day, there is at this place a plaque to all the victims. On 1 October 2005, not far from the first crime scene to another stop.
Since the first attack, tourism is mainly Kuta not as before.
